Use your skills, contacts, and profile to ensure the plight of our front line workers around the globe receives the exposure it deserves by joining our “Humans Of Support” initiative.  We are looking for portraits of workers/volunteers in their environment who are putting their health and wellbeing at risk to support others and help our communities - we want to share their stories from around the globe and we need your help to do it.

 

We will be picking a minimum of 25 original images for the showcase to be framed and displayed gallery style for the silent auction during the Love in this City fundraising event October 3rd 2018.

As our exhibition space is limited, a contest style submission process will take place in order to select work that is best suited for the event theme. All proceeds will be donated to Downtown Eastside Women’s Shelter, Enspire, Union Gospel Mission and other charitable organizations supporting our vulnerable citizens on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

 

 

THE SUBMISSION THEME

The theme of this photo contest is to show the Love in THIS City and what that means to you as an artist/ citizen of Vancouver.  Our goal is to present a collection of images that offer a unique take on love, life, compassion, connecting and putting our city in the best light/ the very best our city has to offer.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR PHOTOS  

Please submit your unpublished photography submissions by way of email at: submissions@loveinthiscity.org.

All submissions must meet the entry eligibility requirements or risk being excluded.

OUR SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

File Format: Jpeg

Size: 5 x 7 inches - Horizontal or Vertical at a minimum size of 150 dpi
Jpeg file must not exceed 2MB.

​

Submissions must include a brief description of 250 words or less describing the subject matter or theme of photo, where & when was it taken and what it means to them.

 

PLEASE MAKE SURE...
Original file should have a resolution of 300dpi at a minimum size of 16 x 24 inches (4500 x 6800 pixels, or greater) This file will be required, should you become a finalist.
Photos not meeting these requirements will be excluded from the exhibition.
 

SUBMISSION DATES

Starting: August 1, 2018

Ending: Midnight September 9, 2018
Winners Announced: September 19th 

The winners will be selected once the contest period ends. Judging will be based on criteria such as photo composition, originality and how well the submission reflects the contest theme outlined above.

FINALISTS

The finalists will be notified by email after they have been identified as finalist entries and will be required to send over the larger print file described in HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR PHOTOS.

 

The qualifying finalists must sign a release form in order to be submitted into the gallery exhibition. If a place in the gallery exhibition is unclaimed the next eligible person will qualify to take that place.  We will be also using appropriate non-finalists in the slide show at the event as well as on social media.

 

Selected finalist submissions will be displayed and put up for auction at the Love in THIS City Event taking place October 3rd 2018.

 

The decisions of Love in THIS City are final on all matters regarding this contest.  

 

ENTRY ELIGIBILITY/ CONDITIONS

The submission contest is open to all British Columbia residents who have reached the age of majority (19 years old) at the of the date of entry.

 

Entries are limited to 5 per person.

By submitting images to this platform/event, you are donating your artwork to be put up for auction during the Love in THIS City fundraising event benefiting charitable organizations on the Downtown Eastside.

 

By submitting images, the entrants warrant and represent the following with respect to their submission:

​

(a) entrant is the sole and exclusive owner of the submission and its copyright;

(b) photo was taken solely by the entrant;

(c) the submission will not infringe on any rights of any third parties;  

(d) any third parties appearing in the submission have given their consent to having their photo be entered into the contest; and

(e) the submission has not been previously published.

By participating, entrants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless Love In THIS City, and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, and co-sponsors, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this contest or any contest related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any prize awarded hereunder.

By submitting an entry, entrants acknowledge and agree that all submissions may be reproduced and published (without notice or compensation) on any electronic media and any printed material, in association with Love In THIS CITY and affiliates.

Submissions may be reformatted, rearranged, combined with other materials and/or otherwise modified. Participation in the contest constitutes the artists permission (or that of the copyright holder) for Love In THIS City to use their names, photographs, biographical information, and/or any statements made by each winner regarding the contest without notice or additional compensation.

Love In THIS City reserves the right to refuse submissions deemed inappropriate or offensive in any way.
